Abby Schauer rallies for exciting win in 200 breast, leads Women's Swimming & Diving past Baldwin Wallace 142-87 on Senior Day

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's swimming & diving team remained undefeated on the season with a 142-87 victory over Baldwin Wallace on Senior Day at the ONU Sports Center Natatorium Sunday afternoon.
The Polar Bears (2-0 overall, 2-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) stayed atop the OAC standings by winning eight of the 13 events on the day.
The Yellow Jackets fall to 0-2, 0-2.
The highlight of the day for ONU came when sophomore Abby Schauer (Beavercreek) rallied from two seconds behind with 50 yards to go to win the 200 breast by .01 of a second in 2:41.16. She also won the 200 I.M. in 2:22.96.
Junior Megan Lubinski (Loveland/Brighton) won the 50 free in :25.24 and the 100 free in :55.23.
Freshman Sofia Vazquez (Fulshear, Tex./Tompkins) swept the 1- and 3-meter diving events. She defeated three other divers to win the 1-meter diving with 184.85 points and took the 3-meter diving unopposed with 192.50 points.
Senior Marissa Taylor (Granite Falls, N./C./South Caldwell) won the 200 fly in 2:24.99.
Freshman Katie Bend (Carmel, Ind.) won the 500 free in 5:38.19.
Northern opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay. Sophomore Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine), sophomore Maddy Markwood (Anchor Bay, Mich.), junior Lauren Shaw (Port Clinton) and freshman Gabbie Grant (Saint Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview) touched in 1:58.15.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Feb. 19 with a dual meet at Mount Union.
