Women’s Swimming & Diving finishes sixth at Wooster Invitational

WOOSTER — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team wrapped up competition at the Wooster Invitational Saturday. The Polar Bears finished the meet sixth out of seven teams with 822 points.
ONU freshman Abby Schauer (Beavercreek) led the way, touching fourth in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:09.53. Junior teammate Marissa Taylor (Granite Falls, N.C./South Caldwell) took fifth in a time of 2:10.52, and freshman Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine) finished 11th, registering a time of 2:12.26.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team — of Starkey, Taylor, sophomore Lauren Shaw (Port Clinton) and sophomore Megan Lubinski (Milford/Brighton) — placed seventh, recording a time of 3:45.11.
Senior Katelyn Koebel (Port Clinton) finished eighth in the 200-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 2:36.99.
Lubinski took 12th in the 100-yard freestyle, recording a time of 55.48, and sophomore Sydney Augspurger (Dalton) placed 12th with a time of 2:35.54.
Northern is back in action after the New Year when it hosts Kenyon and Oberlin Jan. 10.
