Schauer leads Women's Swimming and Diving on Day 2 of Calvin (Mich.) Quad

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Freshman Abby Schauer (Beavercreek) paced the Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team to a fourth place finish on the second day of the Calvin (Mich.) Quad at the Venema Aquatic Center.
Schauer finished second in the 200 backstroke and third in the 400 IM to lead the Polar Bears.
Calvin won the meet with 1139 points and ONU was fourth with 480.
She finished the 200 back in 2:13.94 and the 400 IM in 4:56.27.
Freshman Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine) added a pair of fifth places finishes. Starkey swam the 100 back in 1:02.94 and the 200 back in 2:16.21.
Schauer and Starkey teamed up with senior Kyley Stuart (Ada) and sophomore Megan Lubinski (Milford/Brighton) in the 200 medley relay, touching sixth in 1:56.2.
In the 100 breast, freshman Madeline Markwood (Anchor Bay) was fourth in 1:11.53.
The 800 free relay team of Schauer, Starkey, junior Marissa Taylor (Granite Falls, N.C./South Caldwell), and sophomore Karli Katterle (Rocky River) placed sixth in 8:39.73.
Taylor added a sixth place finish in the 200 back, touching in 2:16.96.
Ohio Northern returns to the pool for 6 p.m. dual meet with Wittenberg on Friday.
