Women’s Swimming & Diving picks up win at Wilmington

WILMINGTON — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team started off its dual meet season with a victory. The Polar Bears defeated Wilmington 138-122 Friday night.
The 200-meter medley relay team — of Shelby Starkey (Bellefontaine), Abby Schauer (Beavercreek) Kyley Stuart (Ada) and Gabrielle Grant (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Lakeview) — got things started, claiming first with a time of 2:11.90.
Schauer won the 100-meter breaststroke, as well, boasting a time of 1:20.21. Stuart touched first in the 100-meter butterfly, clocking in at 1:13.37, and Grant took first in the 50-meter freestyle, registering a time of 29.76.
Marissa Taylor (Granite Falls, N.C./South Caldwell) won the 50-meter backstroke with a time of 33.33. Taylor also placed first in the 100-meter freestyle, logging a time of 1:03.63.
Mya Parsons (Castle Rock, Colo./Arapahoe) paced the field in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 32.41.
Northern has a quick turnaround, as it plays host to John Carroll Saturday at 1 p.m.
