Women's Swimming & Diving in fifth place after day 1 of 11-team Wooster Invitational

WOOSTER — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team is in fifth place out of 11 teams after the first day of the three-day Wooster Invitational on Thursday at the Wooster High School Natatorium.
Senior Kierra Watson (Brownsburg, Ind.) finished fifth of 45 swimmers in the 200 I.M. in 2:13.19 to lead the Polar Bears.
ONU is fifth with 205 points after five of the 20 events.
Case Western Reserve leads the team standings with 579.5 points, Gannon (Pa.) is second with 359 points and Edinboro (Pa.) is third with 317 points.
Sophomore Marissa Taylor (Granite Falls, N.C./South Caldwell) also posted a top-8 finish, touching seventh of 57 in the 500 free in 5:6.93.
The 400 medley relay team of Watson, junior Katelyn Koebel (Port Clinton), junior Lauren Halle (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) and freshman Megan Lubinski (Milford/Brighton) finished eighth in 4:05.72.
The meet will continue with eight more events on Friday and the final seven events on Saturday.
Prelims on both days will begin at 10 am at Wooster High School with diving starting at 2 pm at the College of Wooster.
Finals on Friday will begin at 6 pm and the finals on Saturday will start at 5 pm at Wooster High School.
