Lauren Halle wins 200 fly in convincing fashion to lead Women's Swimming & Diving on final day of OAC Championships

AKRON — Sophomore Lauren Halle (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) won the 200 fly in convincing fashion, leading the Ohio Northern women on the third and final day of the 2018 Ohio Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday at the University of Akron's Ocasek Natatorium.
Halle won the 200 fly in 2:08.28, touching a full 3.43 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor for her second championships title of the meet and her second consecutive crown in the race.
The Ohio Northern coaching staff, led by 14th-year head coach Peggy Ewald, was named the Co-OAC Women's Coaching Staff of the Year.
The top three finishers in each individual event and the top two relay teams in each event earn All-Conference honors.
Ohio Northern finished fourth of five teams with 561.5 points.
Senior Sydney Veon (Riverside, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) earned All-Conference accolades in the 100 free for second consecutive season, touching third in :53.53.
Junior Kierra Watson (Brownsburg, Ind.) earned All-OAC honors in the 200 back for the second straight year, finishing in 2:07.32.
Watson, freshman Marissa Taylor (Granite Falls, N.C./South Caldwell), Halle and Veon earned All-Conference honors with a second place finish in the 400 free relay in 3:36.98.
JCU won the team title with 885 points, Mount Union was second with 712.5 points, Baldwin Wallace edged ONU for third by one half a point 562-561.5 and Wilmington was fourth with 267 points.
