Lauren Halle leads Women's Swimming at Calvin (Mich.) Quad Meet

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Freshman Lauren Halle (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) won the 200 fly and had a pair of second place finishes to lead the Ohio Northern women's swimming & diving team at the Calvin (Mich.) Quad meet Friday and Saturday at the Venema Aquatics Center.
The Polar Bears finished fourth with 524.5 points. No. 14-ranked Calvin (Mich.) won the meet with 1107.5 points, Carthage (Wis.) was second with 881 points and Albion (Mich.) was third with 870 points.
Halle won the 200 fly in 2:14.29 and was second in the 200 I.M. (2:15.52) and thre 400 I.M. (4:53.19) to lead ONU.
Junior Sydney Veon (Riverside, Ill./Brookfield) was second in the 100 breast in 1:09.69.
Senior Molly Wheeler (Sylvania/Northview), junior Hailee Sautter (Mansfield/Lexington) and freshman Libby Sartschev (Parma/Normandy) also had top-5 finishes for Ohio Northern.
Wheeler was third in the 200 breast in 2:38.09, Sautter was fourth in the 1650 free in 19:40.16 and Sartschev was fifth in the 3-meter diving with 229.75 points.
The Polar Bears will return to action with a pair of home meets next weekend, hosting Wittenberg on Friday at 6 pm and Oberlin on Saturday at 1 pm.
Northern will also be hosting its annual Swim for Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser at both of those meets.
