Nine named Academic All-OAC in Women's Swimming & Diving for 2015-16

ADA — Nine Ohio Northern student/athletes were named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference in women's swimming and diving for the 2015-16 season.
Senior Allison Lohnes, juniors Kelsey Brebberman, Jill Chapman, Jennifer Collopy, Stacie Melody and Molly Wheeler and sophomores Maggie Dempster, Kasey Mucher and Hailee Sautter all received the honor.
The award winners must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, maintain varsity status and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
Lohnes led the Polar Bears this season by winning the 100 and 200 back OAC titles and scoring 94 points at the OAC Championships meet. She was also part of ONU's winning 200 and 400 free relay teams and set a school record with a runner-up finish in the 200 I.M.
She ended her career as a 13-time OAC Champion and earned All-Conference accolades in 21 career events. She also owns four school records and scored 299 points at her four OAC Championships meets.
Brebberman scored eight points at this year's OAC Championships meet, placing in the 400 I.M. and the 200 back for the third consecutive season. She will enter her senior season with 57 OAC Championships points to her credit.
Chapman swept the OAC titles in the 50 and 100 free and qualified for the NCAA III Championships in the 50 free this season. She was also part of ONU's winning 200 and 400 free relay teams and was All-OAC in six events.
She is now a 10-time OAC Champion and a 16-time All-OAC honoree and will compete at the NCAA III Championships in Greensboro, N.C. on March 16.
Collopy placed at the OAC meet in the 1- and 3-meter diving events. She was ninth in the 3-meter and 11th in the 1-meter to account for 18 team points in the meet. She has now placed in the 1-meter diving in three straight Championships meets.
Melody accounted for nine team points at the OACs this February, placing in the 100 and 200 back events. She has now scored 17 OAC Championships points in her career.
Wheeler scored 48.5 OAC Championships points for Ohio Northern this season, earning All-OAC honors on ONU's 200 medley relay team. In her three seasons as a Polar Bear, she has scored 111.5 points.
Dempster placed fifth in the 3-meter diving and was eighth in the 1-meter diving at this year's OAC Championships. She has scored 33 career OAC Championships points in her two seasons as a Polar Bear.
Mucher scored 28 OAC Championships points this season, placing in the 200 fly, the 400 I.M. and the 1650 free. In her two seasons at ONU, she has scored 67 OAC Championships points for the Polar Bears.
Sautter earned All-Conference accolades for the Polar Bears in the 800 free relay for the second consecutive season in 2015-16.
She scored 34.5 points at this year's OAC Championships and has now scored 67 points in her two seasons at Ohio Northern.
The Polar Bears won a share of the OAC Regular Season title and finished a close third at the OAC Championships this season under 12th-year head coach Peggy Ewald.
