Women's Swimming and Diving is fifth of 10 teams after Day 2 of Wooster Invitational

WOOSTER — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team is in fifth place out of 10 teams after the second day of the three-day Wooster Invitational on Friday at the Wooster High School and the College of Wooster's Timken Natatoriums.
The Polar Bears have 700.5 points through 13 of the 20 events.
No. 35-ranked Case Western Reserve is first with 1042 points, NCAA Division II Gannon (Pa.) is second with 838 points and Wooster is third with 746 points.
Senior Allison Lohnes, sophomore Kasey Mucher and freshman Kierra Watson led ONU.
Lohnes and Watson each posted top-8 finishes in the 100 back, while Mucher and Watson each reached the A Final to record a top-8 finish in the 400 I.M.
Lohnes was second in the 100 back in :58.04 and Watson was eighth in 1:01.99.
In the 400 I.M., Mucher was fifth in 4:47.55 and Watson was eighth in 4:55.34.
Freshman Lauren Chaney was ninth in the 100 breast in 1:08.78 and freshman Emily Jones was ninth in the 1-meter diving with 285.30 points.
Northern also fared well in the two relay races.
ONU opened the night with a fourth place finish in the 200 medley relay as Lohnes, sophomore Sydney Veon, Chaney and junior Jill Chapman touched in 1:48.83.
Junior Emily Uhrin, sophomore Hailee Sautter, freshman Alyson Rohrer and Chaney were sixth in the 800 free relay in 8:05.31.
Saturday's finals will have six swimming events and the final diving event.
