Lindsey Rayhill, Women's Swimming & Diving team earn Scholar All-America honors

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's swimming & diving team and junior Lindsey Rayhill received Scholar All-America recognition in 2012-13 by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
The Polar Bears finished tied for 79th nationally as a team with a 3.29 GPA.
Individually, Rayhill was named an Honorable Mention Scholar All-American.
The Team Scholar All American award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented twice annually, once in the fall semester/term and in the semester/term of the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Scholar All American award is presented to college and university swimmers and divers, who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher, for the semester or cumulative average, and have qualified for and competed at their respective national championship. The award is presented in the semester of the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Honorable Mention Scholar All American award is presented to college and university swimmers and divers, who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, for the semester or cumulative average, and have achieved a "B" time standard, but have not qualified to compete in their respective national championship. Divers qualify by competing at their respective championship qualifying meets.
The Polar Bears won their fifth consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference Championships title in 2012-13.
Northern won the title for the sixth time in the last seven years under ninth-year head coach Peggy Ewald.
The Polar Bears (7-6 overall) also won the OAC Regular Season title for the seventh straight season, finishing with a 4-1 league record.
The Polar Bears finished with 865 points and set eight OAC records, 12 school records and seven NCAA "B" Cuts and won 12 of the championships' 20 events.
Rayhill won her third consecutive title in the 200 fly, shattering her own OAC and ONU record and besting the NCAA "B" Cut with an effort of 2:06.97.
She also won her third straight 100 fly crown in an OAC and ONU record and NCAA "B" Cut :57.11 and finished the meet with six OAC titles as she was part of ONU's winning 400 free, 800 free, 200 medley and 400 medley relay teams.
Rayhill now has 13 OAC titles in her career.
She was also named Academic All-OAC.
