Rayhill, Inkrott set school records, surpass NCAA qualifying marks to lead Women's Swimming & Diving on Day 2 of Wooster Invitational

WOOSTER — Junior Lindsey Rayhill and freshman Linday Inkrott each set school records and surpassed NCAA qualifying standards to lead the Ohio Northern women's swimming & diving team on Day 2 of the three-day Wooster Invitational on Friday.
Rayhill set the school record and bettered the NCAA "B" cut in the 100 fly, finishing third in the event in :57.66.
Inkrott broke her own school record she set on Thursday in the 100 back, finishing second in :57.76.
The pair also combined with junior Jennifer Hartsel and senior Mackenzie Hoffman to finish third in the 200 medley relay in 1:49.50.
The Polar Bears are sixth of 10 teams through 12 of the 20 events with 535 points.
NCAA Division II Gannon (Pa.) is in first with 1058.5 points, NCAA Division II Edinboro (Pa.) is second with 1020 points and Wooster is third with 859 points.
Hartsel led three ONU swimmers that placed in the 100 breast, finishing fourth in 1:08.61.
Senior Amanda Brown was 15th in 1:12.10 and freshman Cassandra Hacker was 20th in 1:13.88.
The top 24 finishers in each event score team points. After the qualifying events in the afternoon, the swimmers are grouped into A, B and C finals races, where they compete for places 1-8, 9-16 and 17-24, respectively.
Hoffman led a group of three Polar Bears in the 200 free, placing 11th in 1:59.96. Sophomore Ashley Zoeller was 13th in 2:01.04 and senior Sarah Fiffick was 23rd in 2:03.85.
Junior Jamie Garbash placed 17th in the 100 fly in 1:01.84 and was 18th in the 100 back in 1:03.41.
Junior Rachael Aufdenkampe was 19th in the 100 back in 1:03.76.
In the 400 I.M., sophomore Taylor McCabe was 17th in 4:53.29 and sophomore Molly Mullen was 24th in 5:11.32.
The 800 free relay team of Rayhill, McCabe, Fiffick and Zoeller placed 10th in 8:15.61.
The final day of the invitational will be on Saturday, with the prelims at 11 am and the finals at 6 pm.
