ADA — Freshman Taylor McCabe claimed three individual first place finishes to help the Ohio Northern women's swimming & diving team to a 172-126 non-conference win over Case Western Reserve, Saturday afternoon at ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears finish the regular season 11-3, while the Spartans fall to 3-8.
McCabe won the 100 breast in 1:10.42, 200 breast in 2:29.14, and the 400 IM in 4:50.07.
Senior Michelle Eggers finished in first place in both the 1000 free (11:10.48) and the 500 free (5:26.91).
Senior Alison Garbash also added a win in the 50 free finishing in 25.74.
Junior Amy Elmer swept the 1- and 3-meter diving events, scoring 227.45 and 214.70, respectively.
Freshman Ashley Zoeller and sophomores Kasey Manko, Jamie Garbash and Lindsey Rayhill finished second in the 400 medley relay in 4:11.16. McCabe, sophomores Cait Munro and Rachael Aufdenkampe, and Alison Garbash finished in third slightly behind them in 4:14.61.
Zoeller, Aufdenkampe, Junior Mackenzie Hoffman, and sophomore Alena Anderson secured second in the 400 free relay in 3:48.19.
"This was a really great night to honor the seniors. Case Western was one of the toughest match-ups all season so we are very excited about the win," head coach Peggy Ewald said. "It was a great way to end the regular season, and now we rest up and start to get ready for the conference championships."
Adding to the successful weekend was the fact that the men's and women's swimming & diving teams raised more than $700 at its annual "Swim for Cystic Fibrosis" fundraiser this weekend.
The Polar Bears are in Akron on February 16-18 when they compete in the OAC Championships.
