Women's Swimming & Diving wins OAC Regular Season title, claims Golden Kickboard trophy with 156-86 victory at Baldwin-Wallace
BEREA — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team won the Ohio Athleletic Conference Regular Season title outright and claimed the Golden Kickboard trophy with a 156-86 victory at Baldwin-Wallace Saturday afternoon at Lou Higgins Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 9-3 on the season and finish OAC action with a perfect 5-0 record, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 4-5, 2-2.
Northern won the OAC Rergular Season title outright for the sixth consecutive season and extended its school-record OAC winning streak to 25 meets.
Sophomore Lindsey Rayhill won two events to pace ONU, winning the 100 fly in 1:03.37 and the 500 free in 5:32.63.
Four other Polar Bears won individual events as ONU captured eight of the 13 events on the day.
Senior Michelle Eggers won the 1650 free in 18:48.22, senior Alison Garbash won the 50 free in :26.05, sophomore Rachael Aufdenkampe won the 100 back in 1:04.83 and freshman Taylor McCabe won the 200 free in 2:04.31.
ONU swept the two relay events, as Aufdenkampe, junior Mackenzie Hoffman, sophomore Alena Anderson and Garbash won the 400 free relay in 3:52.05 and sophomore Jamie garbash, sophomore Kasey Manko, Rayhill and Hoffman won the 400 medley relay in 4:14.72.
Junior Amy Elmer placed second to B-W junior All-Amercan Julie Pinter in both diving events tallying 164.75 points in the 1-meter optional event and 223.85 points in the 1-meter voluntary event.
The Polar Bears will play host to Notre Dame (Ohio) at ONU Sports Center on Friday evening at 6 pm.
