No. 15-ranked Wrestling split-squad places 5th at the Mid-States Invitational

NORTH MANCHESTER (Ind.) — The No. 15-ranked Ohio Northern wrestling team placed 5th at the Mid-States Invitational on Saturday.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (16-7 Overall, 6-1 OAC).
- Ohio Northern finished with 72.5 points and placed 5th out of 13 teams.
- The Polar Bears kept several of the starters at home and wrestled a mix of starters and reserves in the tournament.
- #5 Baldwin Wallace placed 1st with 186 points, Manchester (Ind) placed 2nd with 156 points and #17 Wabash (Ind.) placed 3rd with 150.5 points,

ONU Individuals
- Senior Nick Campbell (Brecksville/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) placed 1st at 165 pounds with a 4-0 record.
- In the championship match at 165, Campbell got a takedown with just four seconds left to grab the title with a 5-4 decision.
- Senior Dylan Le (Dublin/Scioto) went 4-1 and placed 3rd at 141.
- Freshman Jovanni Greco (Ross) placed 3rd and went 4-1 at 165.
- Freshman Brock Blankenhornn (Mount Vernon) went 4-1 and placed 5th at 125.
- Junior Gabe Hansen (Richwood/North Union) went 5-2 and placed 6th at 141.
- Freshman Hunter Buckland (Wadsworth) went 5-2 and placed 6th at 165.
- Freshman Titus Ray (Ross) placed 8th and went 1-3 at 184.

- Seven Polar Bears place in the top 8.
- The Polar Bears had a tournament high 7 tech falls as a team.
- Senior Colin Mellott (Wapakoneta) is still just 3 wins away from 100 in his career with a 97-57 record.
- Senior No. 1-ranked All-American Jacob Reed (Canal Winchester/Lancaster) is 2nd all-time in ONU wrestling history in career wins with a 145-7 record.
- Freshman #13-ranked Myles Johnson (Springboro) is 35-3 on the season and leads the team with 15 tech falls.
- Reed is 29-0 on the season at 141 pounds and leads the team in pins with 17.
