Reed wins 141-pound title, leads No. 12 Wrestling to seventh place finish at 32-team Wheaton (Ill.) Pete Willson Invitational
WHEATON, Ill. — Junior All-American and No. 1-ranked Jacob Reed (Canal Winchester/Lancaster) won the 141-pound weight class to lead the No. 12-ranked Ohio Northern wrestling team at the Wheaton (Ill.) Pete Willson Invitational on Saturday.
The Polar Bears finished seventh out of 32 teams with 84 team points. No. 3 Wisconsin-LaCrosse leads the team standings with 144.5 points. No. 6 Wisconsin-Eau Claire is second with 143.5 points, No. 11 Wisconsin-Whitewater was third with 110 points and Cornell (Iowa) was fourth with 109 points.
ONU is ahead of No. 4 North Central (Ill.), No. 12 Olivet (Mich.) and No. 14 Millikin (Ill.)

- Reed was 5-0 with two pins and a tech fall to reach the finals in the 141-pound weight class. He is now 21-0 on the season.
- Junior Teagan Hendricks (Jamestown/Greenview) placed 4th at 165 with a 4-2 record, which inlcuded one pin.
- Junior Gavin Layman (Chesterton, Ind.), who was seeded No. 2, was 3-2 with a tech fall and placed 7th at 184.
- Eighth-seeded junior Colin Mellott (Wapakoneta) went 3-3 with two pins and a tech fall and placed 8th at 125 pounds.
- Senior Jadon Brownlee (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) went 4-3 at Heavyweight and placed 8th.
