No. 22 Wrestling finishes 1-3 against tough competition at West Liberty (W.Va.) Hilltopper Duals

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — Ranked No. 22 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association NCAA Division III Dual Meet Poll, the Ohio Northern wrestling team posted a 1-3 record at the West Liberty (W.Va.) Hilltopper Duals on Sunday. The Polar Bears defeated NCAA Division II Frostburg State (Md.) and fell to Division III No. 15 Wabash (Ind.), Division II Fairmont State (W.Va.) and Division II No. 2 West Liberty (W.Va.).

ONU Individuals

Junior Jayden Jones (Ashland) and freshman Flint Guerra (Lebanon) both went 2-0 at 157 pounds on the day. Jones won by decision and technical fall, and Guerra posted two pins. Guerra improved to 8-2 on the season, while Jones is 7-6.
Four Polar Bears posted 2-2 records on the day, including junior Colin Mellott (Wapakoneta) at 125 pounds, junior Adam Myers (Springfield/STEM Academy) at 174, junior Gavin Layman (Chesterton, Ind.) at 184 and sophomore Ajay Locke (Lancaster) at 197.
Layman tallied both of his wins by pin, Mellott and Locke each posted victories via major decision and pin, and Myers won via technical fall and decision.
Mellott is now 15-7 on the season, Myers is 10-7, Layman is 15-6, and Locke is 8-4.
