Championships Preview: Four members of the No. 13 Ohio Northern wrestling team will compete at the NCAA Division III Championships on Friday and Saturday in Roanoke, Va. … Seniors Jordan Hardrick (165 pounds) and Chase Sumner (149 pounds) and sophomores Jacob Reed (141 pounds) and Gavin Layman (184 pounds) will compete … The top eight wrestlers in each of the 10 weight classes will earn All-America honors … The Championships are divided into four sessions, two on Friday and two on Saturday … Preliminary rounds 1 and 2 and the consolation first round will be held in Session I on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. … The championship quarterfinals and consolation second and third rounds will be held in Session II on Friday beginning at 6 p.m. … The championship semifinals, consolation quarterfinals, consolation semifinals and consolation matches for third, fifth and seventh place will be held in Session III on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. … The championship finals are scheduled for Session IV on Saturday beginning at 7 p.m. … Hardrick and Layman are making their first appearances at the NCAA Championships, while Reed and Sumner both participated in 2022 … Sumner also qualified for the 2020 NCAA Championships as a freshman, but the meet was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic … Reed qualified for nationals by winning the Central Regional title at 141 pounds with a 4-0 record … Reed was an All-American as a freshman last season with a third-place finish at the NCAA Championships … Hardrick qualified for nationals by winning the regional title at 165 pounds with a 4-0 record … Sumner was second at 149 pounds at regionals, going 3-1 … Layman was second at 184 pounds at regionals, going 3-1 … Reed is seeded second at 141, and Sumner is seeded eighth at 149 … In the National Wrestling Coaches Association poll, Reed is ranked No. 2 at 141 pounds, Hardrick is ranked No. 8 at 165 and Sumner is ranked No. 9 at 149 … Hardrick leads the Polar Bears in wins this season with a 41-5 record, followed by Reed (40-0) and Sumner (36-4) … Layman is 34-6 on the season … Reed is looking to cap the fourth undefeated season (minimum 10 varsity wins) in program history … Hardrick is tied for seventh all-time at ONU with 116 career wins … Reed has a team-best 18 pins and 11 major decisions this season … Hardrick has a team-high nine tech falls … Sumner ranks second on the team with 17 pins.

He sports a 374-250-4 career coaching record in dual action, a winning percentage of .602, making him the all-time winningest coach in program history ... Beaschler was inducted into the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Hall of Fame in 2008 and has been named OAC Coach of the Year three times in 1993, 2012, and 2013.
