Hardrick places second at 165, leads No. 18 Wrestling to seventh place finiah at Wheaton (Ill.) Invitational

WHEATON, Ill. —Senior Jordan Hardrick (Dayton/Wayne) placed second at 165 pounds to lead the No. 18-ranked Ohio Northern wrestling team to a seventh place finish at the Wheaton (Ill.) Pete Willson Invitational Friday-Saturday at King Arena.
Hardrick went 4-1 on the two-day tournament and is now a team-best 36-5 on the season.
The Polar Bears (19-3 overall) are finished tied for seventh of 30 teams with 74 points, despite giving three starters the weekend off.
Sophomore Gavin Layman (Chesterton, Ind.) placed third at 184 pounds. He finished with a 5-1 record and is 30-5 on the year.
Sophomores Dylan Le (Powell/Dublin Scioto) placed fifth with a 3-2 record at 133 pounds to improve to 28-13 on the campaign.
Sophomore Cael Vanderhorst (Covington) placed seventh at 149 pounds, going 4-2 on the tournament. He improves to 12-5 on the year.
No. 7-ranked North Central (Ill.) on the team title with 136 points. No. 10 Wisconsin-Eau Claire was second with 125, Concordia (Minn.) was third with 117 and No. 11 John Carroll was fourth with 85.
Northern finished tied with No. 9-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday at the Baldwin Wallace Invitational.
