Sophomore Jacob Reed named OAC Wrestler of the Week for third time this season

ADA — Ohio Northern sophomore Jacob Reed (Lancaster) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week for the week of Jan. 9-15.
This marks the third such honor of Reed's career, as he was named the conference's Wrestler of the Week earlier this season on Nov. 7 and Dec. 5.
A 2022 All-American, Reed posted a perfect 5-0 record at 141 pounds with two pins and two major decisions to lead No. 13 ONU to a fourth-place finish at the Lycoming (Pa.) Duals on Friday and Saturday.
The Polar Bears went 3-0 in Friday's pool play with wins of 46-0 over Penn College, 30-13 over Lycoming and 31-15 over Springfield (Mass.) to advance to the event's championship bracket.
ONU fell 32-16 to No. 8 Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the semifinals and 27-14 to No. 21 Ithaca (N.Y.) in Saturday's consolation round.
Reed, who is ranked No. 2 nationally at 141 pounds by the NWCA, highlighted his individual achievements with a 10-0 major decision victory over 14th-ranked Luis Hernandez of Ithaca.
Overall, Reed is 31-0 on the season with 13 pins, one technical fall and eight major decisions.
The Polar Bears are 16-2 in duals this season and return to action on Tuesday hosting an OAC dual against Mount Union at 7 p.m.
