This Weekend's Championships: Three members of the No. 23-ranked Ohio Northern wrestling team will compete at the NCAA Division III Championships Friday and Saturday at Cedar Rapids, Iowa ... Senior Schuyler Caprella (157 pounds), junior Chase Sumner (149 pounds) and freshman Jacob Reed (141 pounds) will compete ... The top 8 wrestlers in each of the 10 weight classes will earn All-America honors ... The Championships are divided into four sessions, two on Friday and two on Saturday ... The First and Second Rounds will be held Friday morning ... On Friday night, each weight class will be paired down to the eight All-Americans as the quarterfinals and two rounds of consolations will be contested ... On Saturday morning, the semifinals, all remaining consolation rounds and the 3rd, 5th and 7th place matches will be held with the 10 finals bouts going Saturday evening ... This will be the first appearance at the Championships for all three wrestlers ... Sumner qualified for the 2020 NCAA III Championships as a freshman, but the meet was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic ... Sumner is seeded eighth at 149, Reed is seeded ninth at 141 and Caprella is seeded 16th at 157 in the tournament ... Caprella ranks fifth in Division III with 11 tech falls against NCAA Division III opponents ... Sumner is also ranked No. 10 by D3wrestle.com ... Reed leads the Polar Bears with a 38-4 record and eight major decisions to go with 12 pins … Caprella is second in wins with a 35-12 mark and leads the team with 12 tech falls ... Caprella currently ranks 8th all-time in ONU history with a 114-63 career record.

Head Coach Ron Beaschler: Beaschler is in his 34th season at the helm of the Ohio Northern wrestling program and currently stands as the longest-tenured head wrestling coach at the institution ... He sports a 354-247-4 career coaching record in dual action, a winning percentage of .588, making him the all-time winningest coach in program history ... Beaschler was inducted into the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Hall of Fame in 2008 and has been named OAC Coach of the Year three times in 1993, 2012, and 2013.
