No. 23 Wrestling wraps up its OAC schedule with a 43-9 victory at Wilmington

ADA — The No. 23-ranked Ohio Northern wrestling team wrapped up the Ohio Athletic Conference portion of its schedule with a 43-9 victory at Wilmington on Tuesday night at Raizk Arena.
The Polar Bears finish their dual meet season with a 13-5 overall record and finish third in the OAC with a 4-2 mark. This marks the third consecutive winning season for ONU.
The Quakers end their dual meet season 0-12, 0-7.
Northern won eight of the 10 weight classes, including three by fall, two by tech fall and two by forfeit.
Freshmen accounted for all three pins, as No. 9-ranked Jacob Reed (Canal Winchester/Lancaster), Jayden Jones (Ashland) and Gavin Layman (Chesterton, Ind.) had first period falls at 141, 149 and 184 pounds, respectively.
Seniors Schuyler Caprella (Bluffton/Allen East) and Jordan Hardrick (Dayton/Wayne) had tech falls at 157 and 165.
Junior Ben DePrest (Louisville, Ky./Saint Xavier) won by decision at Heavyweight.
ONU won 125 and 133 by forfeit to start the match ahead 12-0, then got falls from Reed and Jones to go ahead 24-0.
Tech falls at 157 and 164 made it 34-0 before the Quakers got on the board with a win at 174.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday when they host the Mid-States Invitational at the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse.
