Senior Shaun Wagner leads Wrestling to fourth place finish at Baldwin Wallace Invitational

BEREA — Senior Shaun Wagner (Southington, Conn.) placed second at the 157-pound weight class to lead the Ohio Northern wrestling team to a fourth place finish at the Baldwin Wallace John Summa Invitational on Saturday at the Lou Higgins Fieldhouse.
The Polar Bears finished with 135.5 points. No. 5-ranked Baldwin Wallace won the tournament with 377 points, Brockport State (N.Y.) was second with 220.5 and Alfred State (N.Y.) was third with 159.5.
Despite resting most of its starters, Ohio Northern had nine wrestlers place in their respective weight classes, led by Wagner's second place finish at 157.
Freshman Cael Vanderhorst (Covington) was third at 141 pounds.
Freshman Jayden Jones (Ashland), freshman Teagan Hendricks (Jamestown/Greenview), freshman Zac Dabney (Lake Villa, Ill./Warren Township) and junior Ben DePrest (Louisville, Ky./Saint Xavier) all placed fourth at 149, 157, 184 and 285, respectively.
Freshman James Paletta (Brook Park/Benedictine) was fifth at 197, junior Bailey Gibson (Elida) was sixth at 149 and senior Connor Kwiat (Bloomville/Tiffin Calvert) was seventh at 174.
The Polar Bears will wrap up the Ohio Athletic Conference portion of their schedule on Tuesday at Wilmington.
