ADA — Ohio Northern won the Lycoming (Pa.) Budd Whitehill National Duals wrestling tournament with a pair of victories over nationally-ranked opponents on Saturday at Lamade Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears (11-3 overall) extended their dual meet winning streak to 11 matches with a 27-9 victory over No. 24-ranked Castleton (Vt.) in the semifinals Friday morning and a 21-15 victory over No. 16 Ithaca (N.Y.) in the finals Saturday afternoon.
Junior Logan Painter (Marysville/Early College) had a pin and a forfeit win to score 12 team points to lead ONU.
He was also named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler as he went 4-0 with two pins, a tech fall and a forfeit victory on the weekend.

Reed, who is ranked No. 14 nationally at 141 pounds, improves to a team-best 25-1 on the season.
Against Castleton, Northern won five consecutive bouts to rally from a 6-0 deficit to grab a 16-6 lead.
The Spartans (5-1) won at 184 to get within 16-9, but senior Cash Thompson (Lake Odessa, Mich./Lakewood) won by tech fall at 197 and Painter got a pin at heavyweight to ice the match and send ONU into the finals.
