No. 11-ranked senior Clayton Davidson places 7th at Wheaton (Ill.) Wrestling Invitational

WHEATON, Ill. — No. 11-ranked senior Clayton Davidson (Kirtland) placed seventh at 174 pounds to lead the Ohio Northern wrestling team at the Pete Willson-Wheaton (Ill.) Invitational on Friday and Saturday at King Arena.
Davidson finished with a 6-2 record, which included a pin, three decisions and two medical forfeit victories, to improve to 27-7 on the season.
He was 4-1 on Friday and went 1-2 on Saturday.
The Polar Bears are 28th of 38 teams, 11 of which are ranked in the NCAA Division III top 25, with 17.5 points.
Sophomore Schuyler Caprella (Harrod/Allen East) and junior Seth Transue (Plain City/Dublin Jerome) each won twice before being eliminated for ONU.
Caprella was 2-2 with a pin at 157 pounds, while Transue was 2-1 with a fall before withdrawing due to medical forfeit at 125 pounds.
Caprella is now 13-14 on the year and Transue is 18-5 on the season.
Ohio Northern finished 27th of 38 teams, 11 of which are ranked in the NCAA Division III top 25, with 26 points.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday at the Baldwin Wallace Invitational.
