Wrestling falls to Otterbein 27-15 in OAC opener

ADA — Senior Clayton Davidson (Kirtland) and junior Jeff Andrews (New Baltimore, Mich./Anchor Bay) each had pins for Ohio Northern, but it was not enought as Otterbein downed ONU 27-15 in the Ohio Athletic Conference wrestling opener for both teams Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears fall to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in the OAC, while the Cardinals improve to 2-2, 1-0.
Otterbein won by decision at 125, by firfeit at 133 and by decision at 141 to biuild a 12-0 lead.
Andrews got the Polar Bears on the board with a first period pin at 149 pounds to make it 12-6 and senior Dylan Dolph (Canton/South) got ONU within 12-9 with an 8-1 decision at 157 pounds.
After an OU win at 165 made it 15-9, Davidson won by fall at 174 in 3:26 to tie the match at 15-all.
Otterbein would win the final three weight classes to take the match 27-15.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday at the Findlay Open.
