Hickey leads Wrestling past Trine (Ind.) on final day of Lycoming (Pa.) Duals

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Ohio Northern wrestling team defeated Trine (Ind.) 38-15 and fell to King's (Pa.) 24-14 on the second and final day of the Lycoming (Pa.) Duals on Saturday at Lamade Gymnasium.

The Polar Bears (8-5 overall) finished in 15th place in the tournament with a 1-4 record.

Sophomore Evan Hickey led ONU with a pair of pins at the 197-pound weight class on the day.

Northern collected three consecutive first period pins to rally from an early 15-0 deficit to defeat Trine.

Freshman Gavin Nelson got ONU on the board with a tech fall at 149 pounds.

Back-to-back-to-back pins by freshman Clayton Davidson, junior Kyler Deeter and sophomore Max Dole gave the Polar Bears a 23-15 lead.

Junior Ian Brown made it 28-15 with a tech fall at 184 and Hickey's pin made it 34-15.

Senior Kody Bellamy wrapped up the win with a 10-0 major decision at heavyweight.

In the first match of the day against King's, Hickey had a pin and Nelson and Deeter had major decisions to account for Ohio Northern's scoring.

The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday at the Wabash (Ind.) Duals.
