ADA — The Ohio Northern wrestling team was selected to finish fourth in the 2014-15 Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestling regular season standings in voting conducted by the league's six head coaches.
The Polar Bears, under 27th-year head coach Ron Beaschler, received 16 points.
Mount Union was picked to win the league with 24 points and four first place votes. Heidelberg and Baldwin Wallace were tied for second with 17 points and one first place vote each.
"Based on how we finished last season, I'm not surprised that we were picked to finish fourth," Beaschler said. "We will be a young team this year, but we will be an exciting team. I'm excited to see how we develop and hopefully our freshmen are wrestling like upperclassmen by the time we get to the OAC portion of our schedule in January."
Senior Cody Lovejoy, who finished seventh at the NCAA III Championships at heavyweight last season, is a returning All-American, a two-time winner of the NCAA's Elite 89 Award and is a two-time First Team All-OAC honoree and leads the list of returners for ONU in 2014-15.
Junior Tyler Gargano is also a returning All-OAC honoree for the Polar Bears.
ONU will open the season Nov. 15 at the Roger Williams (R.I.) Invitational and will host the 34th annual ONU Invitational on Dec. 6 at the ONU Sports Center.
