Wrestling stays unbeaten in OAC action with 38-12 victory over Wilmington

ADA -- The Ohio Northern wrestling team remained unbeaten in Ohio Athletic Conference action with a 38-12 victory over Wilmington Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 5-7 overall and are 2-0 in OAC action, while the Quakers fall to 1-4, 1-2.
Junior All-American and No. 2-ranked Luke Miller, sophomore Mick Letcher and freshman and No. 9-ranked Kyle Kwiat all registered pins for ONU.
Freshman Jeremy Jones got the first win of the night at 133 as he was able to score a 6-3 decision over Christoper Heiss.
Mick Letcher secured the first win by fall on the evening for the Polar Bears as he came out and pinned Richard Armand at the 2:44 mark to tie the match at 9-9.
Miller made it two pins in a row by pinning Mark Sedziol at 2:31.
The consecutive pins propelled Northern to a 15-9 lead.
At 165 Billy Painter dominated the entire match, winning by tech. fall 15-0 and earning five points to push the Polar Bear lead to 20-9.
Kwiat got Northern's third win of the night by pin at the 1:49 mark as he was able to pin Brendan Leal.
After two forfeit wins by Matt Alexander and Nathan Jones, Northern's team lead was 38-9.
"It was a good for us to win tonight," Coach Ron Beaschler said, "The win moves us to 2-0 in the conference and gets us ready for the weekend's matches."
The Polar Bears will return to action Friday and Saturday at the Lycoming (Pa.) Duals. Northern will face No. 15-ranked Wilkes (Pa.) in the first round Friday at 9 am.
With a victory, ONU would face Thiel (Pa.) at Noon and would face either John Carroll or Lycoming (Pa.) at 2 pm with a defeat.
