Hoersten scores her 100th career goal to lead Women's Lacrosse to a 15-12 win over Marietta

MARIETTA — Junior Emma Hoersten (Hilliard/Davidson) scored her 100th career goal and finished the game with five goals and one assist to lead the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team to a 15-12 win at Marietta on a warm Saturday afternoon.

- Junior Mackenzie Miller (Maumee/Anthony Wayne) scored four goals to earn her second career hat trick.
- Senior Gabby Monastra (Wooster) scored three goals and earned her first career hat trick.
- The Orange and Black scored six unanswered goals in the first period to get off to a quick 6-0 lead.
- Senior Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) opened the second period with a goal at 13:40 and then Monastra scored back-to-back goals to make it 9-0
- Marietta went on a 3-1 run to end the first half, but ONU led 10-3 going into halftime.
- Monastra scored her third goal of the game at 2:23 in the third period to give ONU an 11-6 lead.
- The Polar Bears led 11-8 heading into the fourth period.
- Ohio Northern and Marietta would trade goals, but ONU had the 3-2 advantage and led 14-10 with 4:50 left in the fourth period.
- Northern's defense held off the Pioneers with less than two minutes left in the game
- The Pioneers were led by Hope Adams who had four goals and two assists.
- Seniors Emma LoGiudice (Wooster) and Alise Callahan (Cedarburg, Wis.) each had a team-high two caused turnovers for the Polar Bears.
- Jenna Messinger (Springboro) had nine saves to help the Polar Bears
- ONU out-shot MU 31-30 and had the ground ball advantage 27-16.
