ADA — The Women's Lacrosse team fell to Ohio Wesleyan 19-5 on a chilly Tuesday evening. 

The Game

  • Records: Ohio Northern (6-4 overall), Ohio Wesleyan  (7-3 overall).
  • Venue: Dial Robertson Stadium - Ada, Ohio.

Individual Highlights

  • Junior Emma Hoersten (Hilliard/Davidson) finished the game with one goal and three assists. 
  • Junior Lydia Lehman (West Chester/Lakota West) finished with two goals to help ONU.
  • Junior Elena Martin (Canfield) and Senior Alise Callahan (Cedarburg, Wis.) both scored a goal each in the game.
  • Lehman got the Polar Bears on the scoreboard with a goal at 9:08 in the first period to make it 1-1.
  • After two OWU goals, Lehman would score again with 4:41 left in the first period to cut the lead to one making it 3-2.
  • The battling bishops led 5-2 after the first period. 
  • Martin would score with 37 seconds left in the second period and cut the lead to nine making it 12-3 heading into halftime.
  • OWU would lead 15-4 heading into the fourth period.  
  • The battling bishops were led by Brie Colangelo and Caroline Fleming who scored four goals each.
  • Senior Emma LoGiudice (Wooster) had a team-high three caused turnovers for the Polar Bears in the game.
  • Freshmen Kara Fox (South Euclid/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) and Jenna Messinger (Springboro) combined for 5 saves to help the Polar Bears. 
  • OWU out-shot ONU 31-14 and had the ground ball advantage 26-14.

Notables

  • OWU leads the all-time series 3-0. 
  • Hoersten is third in ONU history in career goals with 97 and is fifth with 119 points.
  • Hoersten also leads the team this season in goals with 30.
  • She has the ONU career record in free-position goals with 37.
  • Senior Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) is first all-time in Ohio Northern history with 204 career points. She is also ONU's all-time career leader with 116 assists and is fifth with 89 career goals.
  • She has a team-high 45 points on 22 goals and 23 assists this season.
  • Martin leads the team with 40 draw controls this year and is third all-time with 149.
  • Head coach Margo Vandeveld is in her second season at Ohio Northern and has a 15-12 record, a winning percentage of .555.
