Martin earns her 100th career point to lead Women's Lacrosse in 19-0 shutout victory at Randolph (Va.)

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Junior Elena Martin (Canfield) recorded her 100th career point on Wednesday afternoon to help the Polar Bears shut out Randolph (Va.) 19-0.

• Martin would finish the game with five points on four goals and one assist for her 16th career hat trick.
• The Polar Bear defense held the Wildcats scoreless throughout the entire game.
• Senior Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) had three goals and six assists to help get the victory and earn her 10th career hat trick.
• Junior Emma Hoersten (Hilliard/Davidson) finished the game with four goals for her 14th career hat trick.
• Senior Grace Wilson (Hope, Mich./Dow) finished the game with two goals and two assists to help the Polar Bears. 
• The Orange and Black started quickly, scoring eight unanswered goals in the first period. 
• ONU went on a 5-0 run in the second period to lead 13-0 at halftime. 
• Freshman Jaxson Murdock (Galloway/Alder) scored the opening goal for the Polar Bears in the second half to make it 14-0. 
• Ohio Northern led 14-0 heading into the fourth period. 
• Freshman Kara Fox (South Euclid/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) and sophomore Jenna Messinger (Springboro) held the Wilcats scoreless to help get the win.
• ONU out-shot RC 36-4 and had the ground ball advantage 17-9.

• Martin entered today's game with 97 career points and picked up the 100th career point on a goal with 2:30 left in the first period. She now has 102 points in 41 career games.
• This was the first meeting between these two teams.
• This was Ohio Northern's second shutout in program history. 
• Hoersten is third in career goals with 93 and is fifth with her 115 points.
• Nine different Polar Bears scored goals in the contest.
• Hoersten leads the team this season in goals with 26.
• Hoersten has the ONU career record in free-position goals with 34.
