Sophomore Elena Martin named OAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern sophomore Elena Martin (Youngstown/Canfield) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive  Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 26-Mar. 3.

The recognition comes after she 14 draw controls and five caused turnovers as the Polar Bears posted a 16-9 victory at Trine (Ind.) last Wednesday, a 15-12 victory at Westminster (Pa.) on Friday and a 15-10 loss to Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday.

She had a career-best seven draw controls against Westminster.

Martin also added two goals in each of the games and two assists against Trine for an 8-point week from her midfield position.

This is Martin's first time receiving the honor.

The Polar Bears (3-2 overall) return to action on Wednesday at Mt. St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m.
