ADA —The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team wrapped up the home portion of its schedule with a Senior Day contest against Capital on Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears (8-7 overall, 2-4 Ohio Athletic Conference) fell to Capital (8-4, 6-1) by a 24-9 count.
Sophomore Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) had a hat trick with three goals and freshman Elena Martin (Canfield) added two goals for ONU.
Ohio Northern got early goals from seniors Meredith Miller (Noblesville, Ind.) and Amanda Wells (Mason) to lead 2-1 just 4:36 into the contest.
Junior Emma Perry (Pickerington/North) scored with 7:22 left in the opening period to even the game at 3-3.
But the Comets would score the next 15 goals and led 18-4 at halftime.
Despite the loss, Ohio Northern clinched a spot in the 6-team OAC Tournament for the third consecutive season.
The Polar Bears will wrap up their regular season schedule on Wednesday with a road game at Otterbein.
