Burden's game-winner with 2:10 left lifts Women's Lacrosse to 13-12 victory at Baldwin Wallace

BEREA — Sophomore Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) scored with 2:10 left in the game to break a 12-all tie and lift Ohio Northern to a 13-12 Ohio Athletic Conference women's lacrosse victory at Baldwin Wallace on a beautiful Wednesday evening at Finnie Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 8-6 overall and 2-3 in the OAC, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 3-10, 1-3.
Senior Meredith Miller (Noblesville, Ind.) added five goals and one assist and Burden finished with three goals and three assists for ONU.
Deanna Loukas scored five goals for BW.
The Yellow Jackets scored twice in a span of 1:23 in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 12-12 with 5:12 left in the game.
But Burden scored the game-winner off an assist from freshman Emma Hoersten (Hilliard/Davidson).
ONU won the ensuing draw control and bled nearly a minute and a half off the clock before turning the ball over with 46 seconds left.
BWU got a shot off with one second to go, but it sailed high and the Polar Bears held on for the victory.
Baldwin Wallace raced to a quick 5-1 lead just 8:32 into the contest, but ONU would answer with a 5-1 run over the next 13 minutes to tie the game at 6-6 with 8:29 left in the half.
The two teams would trade goals for the next quarter until junior Emma Perry (Pickerington/North) and Hoersten would score to give ONU an 11-9 lead with 2:02 left in the third quarter.
Senior Elizabeth Graham (Dayton/Carroll) scored with 8:43 left in the game to extend the lead to 12-10.
Miller's four goals extends her school record total to 108 in her career and Burden extended her school record assist total to 56 in just 31 games.
Senior Amanda Wells (Mason) had a game-high seven draw controls to extend her carer school record total to 208.
Junior Chloe Millican (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) picked up the win in goal, recording four saves to improve to 8-6 on the season.
Ohio Northern out-shot Baldwin Wallace 26-25 and finished with a 17-11 edge in draw controls.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday when they host OAC foe Capital on Senior Day at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
