Wilson leads Women’s Lacrosse to 18-7 win at Muskingum

NEW CONCORD — Sophomore Grace Wilson (Midland, Mich./Dow) had career-highs of four goals and six points to lead the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team to an 18-7 win over Muskingum on Saturday at North Athletic Turf Field.
The Polar Bears improve to 7-6 overall and 1-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference while dropping the Muskies to 5-9, 0-5.
Senior Meredith Miller (Noblesville, Ind.) added three goals and one assist for ONU, and freshman Elena Martin (Canfield) also had a hat trick with three goals.
Sophomore Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) and senior Elizabeth Graham (Dayton/Carroll) both finished with four points for Northern. Burden had two goals and two assists, and Graham added one goal and three assists.
Junior Chloe Millican (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) picked up the win in goal, tallying eight saves and six ground balls in playing all 60 minutes to improve to 7-6 on the season.
Riley Hudock led the Muskies with three goals.
Hudock scored the first two goals of the game, but ONU answered with scores from junior Emma Perry (Pickerington/North) and Wilson to go into the second quarter tied at 2-2.
Northern went on a 4-0 run in the first five minutes of the second quarter, getting goals from Wilson and Martin bookended by scores from Miller for a 6-2 edge.
After a pair of MU goals, the Polar Bears closed the first half with another 4-0 run, getting two goals from freshman Emma Hoersten (Hilliard/Davidson) and one each from Burden and Miller for a 10-4 halftime lead.
ONU continued pulling away in the third quarter, opening the period on a 3-0 run courtesy of goals from senior Amanda Wells (Mason), Wilson and Graham for a 13-4 lead.
The Polar Bears led 14-6 going into the fourth quarter and capped the scoring with Wilson's fourth goal with 2:23 remaining.
Ohio Northern out-shot Muskingum 33-24 and finished with a 22-16 edge in ground balls.
The Polar Bears return to action on Wednesday at OAC foe Baldwin Wallace at 7 p.m.
