ADA — Freshman Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) had a goal and a career-high six assists to lead the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team in a 15-10 setback against Otterbein on Wednesday night at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears fall to 5-6 overall and are 1-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Cardinals improve to 5-5, 3-1.
Sophomores Sydney Kilgore (Pleasant Plain/Little Miami) and Elizabeth Graham (Riverside/Carroll) each had three goal hat tricks, with all three of Kilgore's goals coming off Burden assists.
OU led 5-1 after the first period, but Burden assisted on three straight tallies as the Polar Bears scored three goals in 1:58 to pull within 5-4 midway through the second quarter.
The lead was 11-9 when the Cardinals scored four straight, holding ONU scoreless for nearly 10 minutes, to extend the lead to 15-9 with 8:07 left to play.
The two teams each had 26 shots and ONU won the ground ball battle 22-14, but the guests had 11 saves in goal to just three for the hosts.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday when they take to the road for a 5:30 pm game at Marietta.
