ALLIANCE — Sophomore Avary Snyder (Uniontown/Lake) scored two goals and added two assists for a team-high four points as the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team fell 19-9 to Mount Union on Saturday at Mount Union Stadium.
The Polar Bears fall to 4-5 overall and 0-1 in Ohio Athletic Conference play while the Purple Raiders improve to 4-2, 1-0.
Snyder was one of four players to score two goals for ONU in the game.
Freshman Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) tallied two goals and one assist for three points, and junior Amanda Wells (Mason) and sophomore Elizabeth Graham (Riverside/Carroll) both finished with two goals.
Sophomore Noel Orioli (Westerville/North) added one goal to round out the scoring for Northern.
Sydney Bumbarger led Mount Union with seven goals.
Burden, Graham and Wells scored one goal each in the first quarter, but a goal from Bumbarger with 6:02 left in the period sent the Purple Raiders into the second with a 4-3 lead.
A goal from Snyder tied the score at 5-5 with 11:31 left in the second quarter, but Mount Union responded with four straight goals to take the lead for good.
The Purple Raiders outscored ONU 8-4 in the second quarter and 6-1 in the third en route to the victory.
Mount Union out-shot ONU 36-19 in the game and held a 23-19 edge in ground balls.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday when they host OAC foe Muskingum at 5 p.m.
