GEORGETOWN, Tex. — Sophomore Sydney Kilgore (Pleasant Plain/Little Miami) and Avary Snyder (Uniontown/Lake) combined for an impressive 13 goals to lead the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team to a 20-3 victory over Northwestern (Minn.) on Thursday afternoon at Varsity Field.
The Polar Bears improve to 3-4 overall, while the Eagles fall to 0-1.
Kilgore scored a season-high seven goals and Snyder had a career-high six goals as ONU won the neutral site game hosted by Southwestern (Tex.)
Northern scored the game's first six goals and led 7-1 after the first period and 11-1 at halftime.
Junior Meredith Miller (Noblesville, Ind.) also had a hat trick with three goals.
Sophomore Elizabeth Graham (Riverside/Carroll) had a goal and five assists for six points and freshman Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) added three assists in the contest.
The game also marked the fourth time in the past two seasons that Ohio Northern reached the 20-goal mark. In all, seven different ONU players scored a goal and nine had at least one point.
Sophomore goalkeeper Molly Dixson (Cannonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) made two saves for the Polar Bears.
Ohio Northern out-shot Northwestern 36-10 and held a 16-9 advantage in ground balls.
The Polar Bears return to action on Wednesday when they return home to face Earlham (Ind.) at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
