BEXLEY — Senior Annie McArn (Bay Village/Western Reserve Academy) and freshman Sydney Kilgore (Pleasant Plain/Little Miami) scored hat tricks as the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team fell at Capital 21-9 Wednesday night at Bernlohr Stadium.
With the loss, the Polar Bears drop to 4-4 overall and are 4-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Crusaders improve to 5-1, 5-1.
Northern's McArn and Kilgore each scored three goals, and Kilgore added two assists.
Sophomore Meredith Miller (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) also added two goals for ONU.
Capital's Kat Walton led all scorers with six goals and two assists.
McArn started off the Polar Bears by scoring their first two goals of the game and assisting on Miller's goal to take the lead 3-1 with 23:35 remaining in the first half.
The Crusaders took the lead with 16:22 remaining in the first half in the middle of a 8-0 run to take the lead 9-3 with 9:26 remaining in the first half.
ONU used a 3-0 run to cut the score to 15-9 with 17:11 remaining in the game, but didn't score again and CU never looked back.
CU out-shot ONU 38-16, won the draw control battle 17-13 and Northern held a 17-16 advantage in ground balls.
Ohio Northern will return to action March 27 at 1 pm at John Carroll.
