ADA — Freshman Sydney Kilgore (Pleasant Plain/Little Miami) scored five goals and sophomore Meredith Miller (Noblesville, Ind.) added four goals to lead the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team to an 18-12 victory over Marietta on Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
Kilgore has now posted hat tricks in all three of her collegiate contests for the Polar Bears (1-2 overall, 1-2 Ohio Athletic Conference).
Senior Ann McArn (Bay Village/Western Reserve Academy) also had five points with a hat trick and two assists and sophomore Maddie Girard (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) had a career-high four assists for ONU.
Megan McGriff had three goals to lead the Pioneers (1-1, 1-1).
McArn and sophomore Amanda Wells (Mason) scored two goals each to key a 6-0 Polar Bear run to give the hosts an 8-2 lead with 10:27 left in the first half.
Marietta answered with three goals but Kilgore scored a man-up goal with 6:09 left as ONU led 9-5 at intermission.
Ohio Northern scored the first three goals of the second half to go up 12-5 with 26:01 remaining.
Leading 14-9, Kilgore got her fifth goal and Miller scored twice to extend the lead to 17-9 with 9:55 to go to ice the game
Ohio Northern out-shot Marietta 37-24 and had a 28-21 advantage in ground balls.
The Polar Bears will return to action Wednesday night with a 7 pm contest against Heidelberg at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
