Naugle, Skelding, Lohman net Hat Tricks as Women's Lacrosse downs Heidelberg 12-7

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team scored the game's last five goals to snap a 7-all tie and post a 12-7 victory over Heidelberg on Wednesday evening at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 6-5 overall and are 3-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Student Princes fall to 5-6, 1-3.
Sophomores Betsy Naugle (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) and Jacqui Lohman (Liberty Township/Lakota East) and freshman Sydney Skelding (Dublin, Calif.) each had hat tricks to lead Ohio Northern.
HU tied the game at 7-7 with 24:28 left to play, but the ONU defense would shut out the Student Princes the rest of the way.
Freshman Sabra Woodruff (Beavercreek) led the Polar Bear defense with a school record nine caused turnovers, five ground balls and three draw controls. She also added a goal and an assist for Northern.
Sophomore Elizabeth Carter (Lebanon) scored a man-up goal with 19:07 remaining to break the tie and give ONU an 8-7 lead.
Skelding scored 41 seconds later to make it 9-7 and Naugle got a man-up goal with 15:15 left to extend the lead to 10-7.
Skelding got a goal with 13:17 to play and ONU led 11-7 to finish her hat trick.
Lohman completed her hat trick with the game's final goal at the 4:56 mark off an assist from Skelding and it was 12-7.
Naugle finished with a game-high four goals, Skelding had three goals and two assists for a game-high five points and Lohman finished with three goals.
Angela Lulejian had three goals for Heidelberg.
ONU out-shot HU 30-25 and won the ground ball battle 37-22.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday with a 1 pm contest against Baldwin Wallace at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
