NEW CONCORD — Freshman Sydney Skelding (Dublin, Calif.) tied her career-high with six goals to lead the Ohio Northern women's soccer team to an 18-2 victory at Muskingum on a chilly Saturday afternoon at McConagha Stadium.
The Polar Bears (5-5 overall, 2-1 Ohio Athletic Conference) scored the first 14 goals of the game and 14-0 before the Muskies (2-9, 0-4) got on the board with 17:07 left to play.
Skelding and sophomore Betsy Naugle (Moon Township, Pa.Moon Area) each had three goals in the first half as ONU led 12-0 at intermission.
Naugle finished with four goals on the afternoon.
Skelding now has four career hat tricks and Naugle has six career hat tricks, including four this season.
Sophomores Elizabeth Carter (Lebanon) and Jacqui Lohman (Liberty Township/Lakota East) and freshman Sabra Woodruff (Beavercreek) each added two goals for ONU.
Northern out-shot Muskingum 42-11 and was a perfect 15-for-15 on clearing attempts.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Wednesday with a 7 pm home contest against Heidelberg at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
