ADA -- The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team opened Ohio Athletic Conference play with a 16-0 loss to defending OAC champion Mount Union on Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears fall to 1-8 overall and are 0-1 in OAC play, while the Purple Raiders improve to 6-2, 2-0.
Junior Shannen Larsen Van Alstine (Neenah, Wis.) had 15 saves in goal and had a solid .484 save percentage to lead ONU.
Freshman Rachel Shipman (Noblesville, Ind.) had five shots and three ground balls to lead the Ohio Northern offense.
MtU out-shot ONU 43-8.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Wednesday evening with a 6:30 pm game at Wilmington.
