Women's Golf finishes sixth of 11 at Heidelberg Fall Invitational

FOSTORIA — The Ohio Northern women's golf team finiahed sixth at the Heidelberg Fall Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Fostoria Country Club.
The Basics
- The Polar Bears finished sixth of sixth of 11 teams with a 346-325—661.
- Mount Saint Joseph won the team title with a 306-317—623. Adrian (Mich.) was second with a 317-308—625, Bluffton was third with a 321-320—641, Mount Union was fourth with a 326-329—655 and Heidelberg was fifth with a 326-329—661.
- ONU Record: 8-7 Overall.
- Venue: Fostoria Country Club - Fostoria, Ohio.
ONU Individuals
- Junior Marisa Alfes (Bellbrook) led the Polar Bears by finishing third out of 97 golfers with a 75-76—151.
- Senior Amelia Burger (Centerville) tied for eighth with a 78-78—156.
- Senior Madyson Smith (Russiaville, Ind./Western) was 59th with a 100-89—189.
- Freshman Ella Baird (Avon Lake/Magnificat) carded an 83 in the first round and senior Rhianna Firmstone shot an 82 in the second round to round out ONU's team scoring.
- Playing as an individual, freshman Taylor Blackburn (Liberty Township/Lakota West) carded an 88-81—169 to finish 28th.
Notables
- The tournament consisted of 18 holes each day Sunday and Monday.
- Head coach Chad Bucci is 481-296-2 in his 11th season at the helm of the ONU women's golf team, a winning percentage of .619.
