Women's Golf in second place after 27 holes of 2023 OAC Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE — The Ohio Northern women's golf team is in second place out of nine teams after 27 holes of the 2023 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on a beautiful Friday at River Greens Golf Course.
The Polar Bears (71-11 overall), who are ranked No. 27 nationally by GolfStat.com, carded a 311-166—477 on the first 27 holes of the 72-hole tournament.
No. 28 Otterbein leads the team standings by 14 shots over ONU with a 311-152—463.
The two teams were tied with 311s after 18 holes Friday morning, but OU grabbed the lead over the first nine holes of the second round on Friday afternoon.
The teams will play 27 more holes on Saturday, beginning with the final nine holes of round two at 9 am. Round 3 will begin immediately after the conclusion of round two on Saturday afternoon. The final 18 holes will be played on Sunday.
Mount Union is third 60 shots back with a 352-171—523.
Individually, junior Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) is tied for second out of 44 golfers with a 27-hole score of 8-over par 116.
Freshman Marisa Alfes (Bellbrook) is tied for fifth with a 9-over par 117, sophomore Amelia Burger (Centerville) is seventh with a 13-over par 121, senior Isabella Orofino (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) is ninth with a 15-over par 123 and senior Torrie Smith is tied for 26th with a 33-over par 141.
Otterbein's Emma McGreal leads the individual standings with a 5-over par 112.
The OAC Tournament Champion will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championships May 9-12 at Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla.
The top 14 players and ties afetr 72 holes earn All-OAC honors.
