Freshman Amelia Burger named OAC Women’s Golfer of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern freshman Amelia Burger (Centerville) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for the week of March 29 to April 4.

Burger earned the accolade after winning Medalist honors in leading the Polar Bears to the team championship at the Bluffton Spring Classic on Saturday and Sunday at Hidden Creek Golf Course.

Burger shot a 17-over par 82-79—161 to win the individual championship by three strokes.

Six ONU golfers finished in the top 10 in the 44-woman field as the Polar Bears took the team title by 16 strokes over second-place Bluffton.

This marks the first OAC Golfer of the Week honor for Burger in her collegiate career and is the fourth such honor for the ONU women's golf team this season.

Sophomore Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) earned the accolade in the fall on Sept. 8, Sept. 20 and Oct. 26.

The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday and Sunday at the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling.
