ROME, Ga. —The Ohio Northern women's golf team is tied for eighth place out of 16 teams after the first round of the Berry (Ga.) Chik-fil-A Invitational on Monday at the Coosa Country Club.

The Polar Bears (42-5 overall) carded a solid 332 and are tied for eighth place with Oglethorpe (Ga.).

No. 4-ranked Methodist (N.C.) leads the team standings with a 293, NCAA Division II Shorter (Ga.) is second with a 296, No. 14 Berry (Ga.) is third with a 300, No. 21 Denison is fourth with a 309 and Division II Coker (Tenn.) is fifth with a 327.

Sophomore Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) is tied for 24th out of 97 players with an 8-over par 80. She took a quadruple-bogey 9 on the second hole, but bounced back to shot four over par over the final 16 holes.

Freshman Amelia Burger (Centerville) is tied for 36th with an 83, sophomore Isabella Orofino (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) is tied for 40th, freshman Rhianna Firmstone (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) is tied for 43rd with an 85 and senior Karlee Staugler (Saint Henry) is tied for 49th with an 86.

Jillian Drinkard (Methodist) leads the individual standings with a 2-under par 70. in all, four players broke par and a fifth is at even par after the first round.

Ohio Northern's spring schedule will be announced later this winter.
