ADA — Ohio Northern sophomore Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for the week of Sept. 14-20.
This marks the second OAC Player of the Week honor for Honigford this season, as she also earned the accolade for the week of Sept. 1-7. It is the fourth such honor in her collegiate career.
On Saturday and Sunday, Honigford shattered the school's 36-hole record and tied her own 18-hole school record with a 72-71—143 to win Medalist honors by 16 strokes at the Bluffton Beaver Classic at Bluffton Golf Club.
The second-round 71 matched her record-breaking score from earlier this season at the ONU Invitational when she became the first Ohio Northern women's golfer to break par in tournament action.
Led by Honigford, the Polar Bears broke the school's 18-hole record with a final-round 316 and tied the school's 36-hole record, winning the Bluffton tournament by 73 strokes with a 323-316—639.
The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday and Sunday at the OAC Fall Preview at River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette.
