ADA — Ohio Northern sophomore Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Golf Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 1-7.
A two-time OAC Player of the Week and the OAC Tournament champion last season, Honigford has picked up right where she left off in the spring.
On Monday, she shot a school-record 1-under par 71 to win Medalist honors and lead the Ohio Northern women's golf team to a victory at the three-team ONU Invitational at Colonial Golfers Club.
Honigford became the first Ohio Northern women's golfer to break par in tournament action. She broke the previous school record of a 1-over par 73 set in 2008 by Meagan Brennan at the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling.
Honigford also earned Medalist honors in Northern's season-opening victory at the three-team Polar Bear Classic at Colonial Golfers Club on Sunday with a 6-over par 78.
She has now won Medalist honors eight times in 13 tournaments in her career.
The Polar Bears return to action on Friday and Saturday at the Olivet (Mich.) Invitational.
