ADA — Freshman Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Golf Player of the Week for the week of April 13-19.
Honigford won Medalist honors for the third consecutive tournament and the fifth time in 10 tournaments this season, posting a 9-over par 78-75—153. Her 153 is the third-lowest 36-hole total in ONU history.
She also led a record-setting Ohio Northern effort as the Polar Bears also won the team title.
The first round 318 on Saturday broke the previous record of 321 and the 36-hole 639 broke the previous mark of 648. Both marks were set at the Wittenberg Fall Invitational on Oct. 9-10, 2010.
This is the second consecutive week that Honigford has won the award. It also marks the fourth time this season that an ONU player has received the award.
The Polar Bears will return to action with the OAC Championships on April 30-May 2.
